Seattle Weekly Web Awards Party Report

June 21st, 2011 by | Share +

Eben Design had a lovely time meeting our fellow Web Award winners at the Seattle Weekly Web Awards party last Thursday night at Sole Repair on Capitol Hill. We are thrilled that the site we designed and built for the Rat City Roller Girls won Best Website in the Sports/Fitness category. We want to thank our partner advertising agency, Ad Mark, for bringing us in on this project. The Seattle Weekly was a great host and we enjoyed the festivities, food and drink.

Patti Foster, the Eben Design Account Manager for the project, had this to say, “Working on the Rat City Roller Girls site was a fun challenge. We needed to have a clean, professional, sporty look, while still maintaining the personality and essence that Rat City Roller Girls are known for. I’m so excited about the recognition they are getting for the site.”

Here are a couple photos we took of the event:

Things We Love Thursdays: The Arts

June 9th, 2011 by | Share +

We asked our team “What book (or piece of art, movie, song, etc.) has had a significant impact on your life?” Here are the responses:

BOOKS:

Heather – Garbage Land: On the Secret Trail of Trash Why: Fascinating story of what happens to the things we throw away.

Eben – No Impact Man Why: Makes you think about what you consume and why.

Melissa – Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion Why: takes a look at how people are convinced subconsciously.

Dan – Zen and The Art of the Motorcycle Maintenance & Dharma Bums Why: Two books that inspired exploration, both geographic and metaphysical.

Molly – The Phantom Tollbooth Why: A unique approach to numbers and words & Ender Series Novels Why: A great science fiction series

Patti – The Dependent Gene Why: A different perspective on “nature vs. nurture” and what makes us who we are.

Gabe – James Michener Novels Why: An interesting historical look at different regions.

Drew – The 4-Hour Body Why: tips and pointers on “efficient” exercise and diet.

Anita – East of the Mountains & Ernest Hemingway: Short Stories Why: Both are a very compelling narratives of what it means to be human and deal with your own mortality – whatever your age.

MUSIC:

Josh L. – Ulrich Schnauss Why: Puts him in the right kind of mind set (now he’s got the whole team listening to it!)

ART:

Taj – Subway Art & Tagging Why: It was what first interested him in design.
